
Jessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24 1977) is an American producer and actress. Most famous for her roles in films that feature feminist themes, she has been awarded numerous awards which include an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world in 2012. Chastain was an actor with a passion since her early years. She made her professional acting debut as Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After completing her acting studies at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent agreement with John Wells. She was a recurring guest on several television shows and played parts in various stage productions. Chastain made her debut film in Jolene (2008) aged 31. She went on to release six films in the year of 2011, including The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). Chastain was also nominated for Academy Award nominations as a part in The Help (2011), in which she played an aspirational socialite, as well as Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as a CIA analyst. The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) had more success commercially. Chastain has also received praise for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), and Molly's Game (2017), and in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921), she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She took home the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the founder of the production firm Freckle Films, which was established to encourage the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an shareholder in the soccer club Angel City FC.
