April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars to have medals won at several Olympics. The American will play in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal, along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross would like to do more than her initial Olympic medal. It could be the last time she has the chance at age 39. However, she remains optimistic that most prestigious prizes are within reach. Ross on NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could be a winner by playing our best. And then I'll also have some luck. Ross had her birth on the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She was raised there by her parents. When she was at Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous athletics. She was a basketball player and also ran tracks in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors during her prep time. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her school bio. The honor was conferred to her by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, she received an Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play in 2017. However, Ross was an already a well-established athlete in the volleyball world prior to the pairing. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two different teams, one of whom is famous for her volleyball skills. Her partnership was with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, in addition to serving as Kessy's Klineman and coach. Along together with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 as she raced internationally. In 2012, the pair won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The team won bronze at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics the year 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the sand professionally, Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as university. And her run at USC was one to remember. In 2000 she was selected Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named she was an All-American. She also helped her Trojans reach the Final Four. In her sophomore season, she went through a heartbreaking personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. Over her final two years within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the top of the mountain by winning two multiple national championships. In her own way, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award was presented to the top female college player of the year in America. Ross graduated with a degree in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see her daughter grow into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001. Ross was still at the age of a USC sophomore. It was discovered that she had breast cancer. She continues to cherish her missing parent with love and close. In addition, Margie has always been an motivation for her at the beach and in life.
